 德格位于甘孜州西北部金沙江东岸,川藏公路北线从这里经过,这里有"雪山下的宝库"德格印院;这里还是世界最长的英雄史事《岭.格萨尔王传》主人公、藏族民族英雄岭.格萨尔王的故里(阿须草原);这里山水秀丽、人杰地灵;秀丽的新路海、巍峨的雀儿山、广袤的阿须草原和竹庆草原,教派齐全并能和睦相处的藏传佛教名寺,无一不是哺育康巴文化的源泉.
